Customs & duties to Europe

Threshold: EUR 150 (duty threshold, changing); VAT always applies

Goods under €150 have historically been exempt from customs duty (VAT still applied). From 1 July 2026, the EU is introducing a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per parcel for most goods under €150, as a first step toward full customs reform expected around 2028. See the France and Italy pages — both moved early with their own national handling fees.

Good to know

What needs care shipping to Europe.

Accurate item-level customs data now matters more than ever across the EU — the new system links duty directly to detailed, item-level declarations, so vague descriptions can cause delays. We prepare proper documentation for every EU-bound order to keep pace with these tightening requirements.

Sourcing to Europe — FAQ

Is the EU still duty-free for orders under €150?

Not from 1 July 2026 onward. The EU is introducing a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per parcel for most goods under €150, as a first step toward broader reform expected around 2028. VAT continues to apply as before.

Does this duty apply to every EU country the same way?

Yes, the €3 flat duty and the underlying threshold change are EU-wide rules. Country-specific nuances are covered on our dedicated France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden pages.

Why is the EU making this change?

The European Commission has cited the explosive growth in low-value parcels (over 5.8 billion in 2025 alone), concerns about under-declared values, and fairness for EU-based businesses.

Do I need a dedicated page for my specific EU country?

We have dedicated pages for France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden with country-specific detail. For other EU countries, this page covers the EU-wide framework that applies.

Are there products you can’t ship to the EU?

Some categories face restrictions regardless of value. We check this at the quote stage and flag anything that isn’t shippable to your specific EU destination.
